Schedule

The 13th Annual CCRS Rare and Unusual Rose Plant Auction will be held Saturday November 16th and Sunday November 17th at Carlsbad by the Sea Resort in Carlsbad, California. For the first time ever, we will spread the Auction-related activities over a two-day time period. We are grateful to Spring Hill Nursery, the new home of Dr. Keith Zary, for sponsoring the speakers for this unique event.

On Saturday there will be a series of PowerPoint presentations, beginning in the early afternoon and resuming after dinner. Speakers include Burling Leong, Ping Lim, Robert Martin, Cheryl Malone (from Heirloom Roses in Portland OR) and Keith Zary. Dinner will be on your own at several restaurants either in or within easy walking distance of the resort.

The Auction itself will take place on Sunday. About 250 to 300 rose varieties will be auctioned this year. A majority of the plants are hard to find or are no longer in commerce.

The Silent Auction will start at 10:00 AM Sunday morning and end promptly at 12:30 PM. As usual the bid sheets will contain a picture of the rose being offered and CCRS members will be available to discuss plants and rose horticulture with all Bidders.

The LIVE Auction will start at 1:30 PM and end by 4:00 PM. John Bagnasco will act as the Chief Auctioneer in the LIVE portion of the Auction presenting his own PowerPoint and providing interesting, educational and entertaining material pertinent to each rose offered. Sharon Asakawa and Bryan Main (Garden Life) plan to join John in handling the Auctioneer's duties.

Complimentary Snacks

There will be food service as is our custom and there is no cost for any of the food. This will include hot coffee, cold soft drinks and bottled water, cookies, chips, various snacks and turkey roll ups.

Proxy bidders

CCRS will provide proxy Bidders both for members unable to attend and for non- members who wish to bid via the Internet.

Process for internet bidding

Internet Bidders must send their list or lists (located under the 'Silent Auction' and the 'Live Auction' tabs) to the Webmaster by noon PST, on November 15, 2013 (11/15/2013). Bids arriving after this time will not be honored by CCRS. Decision of the Webmaster as to timeliness of bid submission is final. Until you receive an e-mail confirmation of your bid from the webmaster, it will not be considered a valid CCRS Auction offer. Be also aware that we must check stock to insure that the plant you want is in a 1- or 2-gallon container to allow for shipping before we can definitely accept your bid.
